Jeannette Rising
Jeannette Initiative — Jeannette, PA
501c3 nonprofit dedicated to revitalizing the Glass City of Jeannette, PA. Proudly serving its local community.
Brand Design
Brand Launch Campaign
I debuted the new logo across the Initiative’s social media platforms, receiving resounding positive remarks and enthusiasm from the community. I also updated the main website with a new header image, and a dedicated page to highlighting the new logo and its symbolic meaning for the community. Click the picture below to visit that page.
The logo was also featured in-person at a community event, where anyone from the public was welcome to come in and learn more about the Initiative’s plans. These include plans for revitalizing the city, and obtaining Main Street Designation to support funding of these efforts.

I led the creative direction, logo design, and brand refresh for the Jeannette Initiative.
Jeannette is located east of Pittsburgh, PA. Jeannette gained the nickname the Glass City because at its height, the city produced over 80% of the entire world’s glass.
This logo pays homage to the deep history of the area, while also portraying the famous symbolism of the Phoenix rising from the ashes into a bold new form. Jeannette’s glass was made possible because of the rich gas fields in the area, which fueled the fires of the glass factories running around the clock.
Much like gas turns to flame, then glass, this logo employs simple swept lines on the right to indicate a rising stream of gas. This ignites into a burning flame of the right wing in red. From this flame, the left side of the Phoenix is born, with the contrasting blue color symbolizing the new glass formed.
Finally, the body of the Phoenix forms a “J,” with the gas stream in the abstract shape of an “I,” showing the initials of the Jeannette Initiative embedded within the logo. This new logo is dedicated to the city of Jeannette and its rebirth into an all-new form for the modern era.

Marketing Strategy
The Initiative is pursuing Main Street Matters designation through the Pennsylvania Department of Community & Economic Development (DCED), which will open up strategic funding to revitalize the city. I led a crucial marketing component of this application involving a Community Perception Survey. In this survey, the community shares their perspective of the city across key areas such as around local businesses, safety, greenery, cleanliness, lighting, appeal, friendliness, affordability, and other metrics to inform revitalization efforts under designation.
I led marketing strategies including digital campaigns and local marketing to nearby businesses. Below features the advertisements I created, which reached nearly 2.5K individuals and 120 engagements from the local community.
In total, I helped the group to achieve 504 total submissions - a nearly 6% community response (double the required engagement).
Event Promotion
The Initiative hosts community events throughout the year to both keep the community informed of revitalization efforts, engage and grow Committees and Partnerships, and raising funds for the organization.
I promote events through geotargeted marketing in the local area. Below highlights the event graphic I created to promote the first in the event series, which received 4,000 views, reached 2.2K local community members, and received 100 clicks.
Featured below, I created a graphic to stand outside of the venue for each event, drawing in local community members to attend.
Alongside the above graphics, I have also created business cards for the Initiative. These feature a paper background texture with the logo to convey the Initiative’s new story they are writing for Jeannette alongside the community. This also speaks to the Program Manager’s storied career in journalism.
